What were the conditions like in England during the Colonial Period?

I mean like, what were the reasons that people immigrated to America from England. This is during the Colonial Period and I need as much information as I can possibly get on conditions in England. Thanks so much!

P.S. This information is for a report at school incase you were wondering.
