I am traveling to London from March 10th through the 12th and have decided to purchase a Travel card for zones 1-3. Is this possible? Also, can I buy one once I land in Heathrow airport? I found them online, but don’t know if I have enough time to wait for it in the mail. Also, do I need a passport, or something similar, photo for the Travel card?

you can buy at the airport, theres a large ticket office …no need for id for the travelcard

But you will need a passport to enter the UK – so if it was needed for a travel card you’d have your passport very handy any rate.

you get travelcards from the ticket office at the underground station, which you can do as soon as you get off the plane if you go to the Heathrow underground station … see details of prices etc on
you won’t need photo or ID for short-term travelcards like this
by the way, most of the tourist stuff is in Zones 1+2, are you sure you need Zone 3 ?

You will need an all zone Travelcard to travel to and from Heathrow and if you to wish to visit tourist attractions on the fringe of London such as
Hampton Court Palace (train from Waterloo Station). Travelcards are valid on the Underground Piccadilly Line to and from Heathrow and Central London, but not on the Heathrow Express fast rail link to Paddington Station

I’d recommend buying an oyster card, you can get one at heathrow, at the train station and i don’t think you need id, but you’ll have your passpoprt anyways. i think they cost 4 pound, but all travel on buses and trains is about half price, you buy the card with credit, then touch on/off transport, and if it runs out (which i doubt it will in 3 days) you can top up practically anywhere. by far the easiest way to get around london, and you won’t look like a tourist!
