How did the political development of England differ from that of France during the middle ages?

A. The french kings were weakened by their attempts to conquer England.
B. England did not develop a Common Law.
C. England developed a tradition of making laws through a representative body.

The French had many other neighbouring countries to worry about apart from England. England would have France as the first landing point to comabat other European nations (Spain, etc).
England could defend herself with the strength of the navy, while France had army strength.
Intermarriage between French and English royalty tried to soften problems, but as marriages went bad, it only deepened resentment
