Cheapest way of travelling from Edinburgh to Southampton?

Can anyone help please, im terrible at finding cheap ways of getting places. Im trying to get from Edinburgh to southampton either via train or plane, but everything is so expensive! Can anyone find some cheap travel? Leaving 2 June Returning 17th

go to the national express website and click on rail – they usually have discounted rail travel – cheaper than on the national rail website.

Cross Country Trains. Book as far ahead as possible for specific trains and you shoulf find some good fares.

I’m sure the cheapest and by far the quickest would be to fly by one of the budget airlines.

Megabus from Edinburgh to London; then Megabus from London to Southampton
Seats cost from £1 per single journey plus 50p booking fee.
Given the fact that you have left the booking of the outward journey so late, expect to pay about £36 southbound, possibly £18 northbound.
