In my experience, Flybe has the cheapest flights between the two. You can check for your dates on a comparison site like Skyscanner or Momondo.

I found round trip tickets in August for £56 ($90 USD) on the Flybe site.

I found train tickets on First Scotrail for £31.50 (about $50) on the same dates. When you check prices for your date, two singles (bought in advance) are often cheaper than a round trip ticket, so be sure to compare the prices on both.
